Paleo dark chocolate brownies with DOUBLE dark chocolate! Whoops, totally didn’t mean to make this week all about vegan and paleo recipes. I also didn’t mean for all of them to be “BOWL” recipes. But you know what? I’m going with. It’s like MAGICAL when that happens. Because I feel so accomplished. I am kidding, kinda. But in all seriousness, I did make all of these paleo and vegan “comfort” food recipes when I was just coming off my surgery. I had to limit certain hard to digest foods for a few weeks post- op, yet I was still CRAVING real food, real healthy comfort food, like MAD. You get that right? Hence these SUPER FOOD one bowl vegan brownies. Can brownies be super food? Chocolate SUPER FOOD and SUPER Magical because they are made in one bowl and magically paleo friendly as well. Did I mention they also include two kinds of dark chocolate and a salted caramel sauce? Look at that extra dark batter and saucy caramel goodness! In my humble opinion. Although, this secret is meant to be shared. I’m gonna get all nerdy and talk about it now.
The Paloe Guide To Dark Chocolate. Dark chocolate is derived from the cacao bean. Look for dark chocolate that has as little sugar as possible. Hi, I had stomach surgery a week ago and as part of my recovery liquid diet I have to have protein shakes and similar. Well I just followed your recipe (although I. Mmmm k? So what is Cacao? What is this dark chocolate magic? Besides it being SUPERFOOD that is. Cacao is the purest form of chocolate. It comes from the cacao fruit tree where it makes cacao pods with beans. It is raw and has the highest source of antioxidants of all foods and the highest source of magnesium of all foods. Plus cacao contains an excellent source of fiber and protein. Cacao powder (or any form of cacao) is super rich in taste and basically the DARKEST of chocolate. Kinda perfect for October, right? But what I love about this amazing chocolate is that is can turn a basic one bowl vegan brownie recipe into a decadent tasting (like flourless chocolate cake like) dessert. Cocoa powder (spelled C- O- C- O- A) is very similar to cacao except cocoa undergoes a bit more heat during processing. But don’t worry, it’s still EXTREMELY healthy and loaded with antioxidants. Plus it’s naturally sugar free and great in baking as well! Like Hot Chocolate brownies. So here’s where I justify this ONE BOWL vegan dark chocolate brownie recipe. If we put it all together with simple dairy free salted caramel sauce, it might not be a”sugar free” treat, but it will still be AHHHHMAZING and still SUPER MAGICAL. A delicious (and allergy friendly) brownie recipe you can make in a jiffy! Meaning it’s SNAPPY sweet, meaning, it’s quick to make. Itt’s healthy- ish, meaning, you’re gonna wanna lick the bowl clean kind of paleo/vegan dessert. Haha, now that was a mouthful description. Alright, grab a bowl and just a few ingredients from your pantry. It’s time to bake it up! P. S., I’m totally going to continue the ONE BOWL vegan baking! Once baked, set this pan in the fridge to “set” the brownies. You can make the caramel sauce when they are in the fridge. If you don’t have cacao powder, just use cocoa powder, both great! Although you know I think everyone should try Better Body Foods cacao powder in addition to the cocoa. Extra extra dark chocolate is never a bad idea. Ingredients You will need a 8x. For the vegan salted caramel You will probably only use half of this for brownies. Better. Body Foods Coconut Oil 1/2 - 1 tsp. Line a 8x. 8 baking dish with parchment paper. I cut it to it fits. Sift your flours together in one bowl. Add in the rest of your dry ingredients. Mix together. Next, add in your wet ingredients into different sections of the bowl. Mix GENTLY all together. Press batter into baking pan. It will be a little thick due to coconut flour. Bake for 2. 8- 3. Remove from oven, then let cool. Once, cool enough, place in fridge to set the brownies before slicing. While brownies are in fridge, make the salted caramel sauce. I followed better body foods vegan salted caramel or you can use my dulce de leche vegan recipe. Better Body Foods recipe. In a small saucepan, mix the coconut sugar, agave, and coconut oil, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring to evenly melt the agave or maple syrup and coconut oil. When sugar starts to soft boil (bubble), set the timer for two minutes. Stir the mixture once or twice during these two minutes. Carefully stir in the coconut milk until it is mixed in and continue to heat until sauce returns to a low simmer. Then just simmer for another minute or so until the is thick enough to coat a spoon. Should still be thin enough to be very easy to drizzle. Don’t heat longer than two minutes. Once it gets into a sauce type mixture. Remove from heat and set aside. Remove brownies from fridge, pour half of the caramel sauce on top or keep for individual slices. You will probably only use half the caramel so keep it in fridge for later uses. Like my caramelized apple bake ! Great with coconut whip cream too! YUM! Recipe Notes. I also used my homemade coconut whip on top. OMG soo good! The key to making these brownies set it refrigerating them a bit after you have removed them from the oven and they have cooled a bit. Then slice and cut into squares.
